For whatever their reason, this young male was spared, much to his dismay. The wind breezed through his short white fluffy feathers, patterned by black spots and ending in black stripes. The snow softly crunched under his scally black feet as he progressed through the vast open valley. His black featherless snout wrinkled and his lips displayed an offensive pucker. His tail and underbelly also lacked feathers and was covered in soft goldenrod scales adorned by black stripes at the tail. “Good. It’ll make you stronger.”
